Currently, due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, some doctoral students cannot go to the Czech Republic to defend their doctoral dissertations. To support these students to complete their studies, the European Cooperation Center (ECC) suggested to the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science - Technical University of Ostrava to facilitate the defense of their doctoral dissertations via online platforms.
As the academic year 2020-2021 ended on 30 July 2021, the European Cooperation Center and Bata Centre held a celebration party, TDTU’s Day in Ostrava, Czech Republic. This was the third year that university students and Ph.D. students held this event.
This year, due to the pandemic, several students had to come back to Vietnam, so there were just a few remaining Vietnamese students studying and living in the Czech Republic, that could attend the celebration party.
On the 10th of April 2021, the European Cooperation Center (ECC) held a special support course for the students of the doctoral sandwich program – a cooperation program between Ton Duc Thang University (https://www.tdtu.edu.vn/), Technical University of Ostrava (https://www.vsb.cz/en) and Brno University of Technology (https://www.vutbr.cz/en/).

Due to the Covid-19, many doctoral students could not travel to the Czech Republic to take their State Doctoral Exams in partner universities. Hence, the European Cooperation Center (ECC), Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU) and Faculty of Management and Economics (FaME), Tomas Bata University (TBU), Czech Republic agreed to allow students to take their State Doctoral Exams via an online form at Inspire Library – Ton Duc Thang University under supervision of the ECC.
On 28.1.2021, Dr. Phan Dao – Director of the European Cooperation Center (ECC) visited and worked with Prof. V. Snasel – Rector of VSB TU University of Ostrava, who has also been a supervisor of many doctoral students of the doctoral sandwich program since 2013.
After the Lunar New Year holiday, students of the doctoral sandwich program - cooperation between Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU) and VSB TU Ostrava (VSB TUO), in Computer Sciences, Informatics,… have already had plenty of positive achievements for a new academic year.
On 14.1.2021, Dr. Phan Dao – Director of ECC and Dr. Renata Tomášková – Vice-Rector for International Relations had a first working session at the University of Ostrava to exchange and asset the result of cooperation between ECC and OSU.
