We would like to introduce an article regarding the new training cooperation agreement between Ton Duc Thang University and VSB - Technical University of Ostrava, Czech Republic.

On the afternoon of May 30, 2022, Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU) and VSB - Technical University of Ostrava (VSB TUO) signed an agreement to cooperate in training doctoral programs and undergraduate training programs in Vietnam on a new phase, on the basis of continuing and expanding the bilateral cooperation training programs between the two universities in the past.

Attending the signing ceremony were the presences of Dr. Tran Trong Dao - Acting President, Dr. Phan Dao - Director of European Cooperation Center, Dr. Dinh Hoang Bach - Acting Director of the International Cooperation, Research, and Training Institute, and leaders from other faculties and departments of TDTU. On the side of VSB TUO, there were prof. Václav Snášel – Rector, and professors from VSB TUO.

After assessing the achieved results in the past, both sides agreed to expand the cooperation in the upcoming time. Particularly, both sides agreed and signed a cooperation agreement on sharing teaching and research resources by signing an agreement to exchange lecturers between the two universities to participate in joint research and training activities.

At the signing ceremony, prof. Václav Snášel expressed his joy at seeing the bilateral relationship between the two universities getting stronger, while also hoping that students could integrate into the Czech Republic world-class education directly in Vietnam, so they could have more job opportunities and develop in the EU labor market.

The bilateral cooperation program with European universities to organize the part-time doctoral training program has been implemented by TDTU since 2013, and currently has more than 20 training majors and more than 130 graduate students have already been and are currently participating in the program.

VSB TUO was inaugurated in 1849 and headquartered in the city Ostrava, Czech Republic. It is one of the 4 biggest public universities in the Czech Republic, and currently has 7 training faculties with 15,000 students enrolled. The Salomon supercomputer of the university is in the TOP 100 of the fastest and most powerful supercomputers in the world. The bilateral cooperation program for part-time doctoral training (sandwich program) between TDTU and VSB TUO is one of the key programs of ECC. Up to now, 30 graduate students have successfully defended their doctoral theses in this program and their diplomas have been officially recognized by the Department of Testing and Quality Assurance, Vietnam Ministry of Education and Training. The ECC set a goal in the upcoming years to expand the training cooperation program in new majors.
